Life-Line in collaboration with Second Chance Center and Dahlia Campus for Health and Wellness established the Communities With Intention program. The program concentrates on evidenced based National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) protocol. Acupuncture treatments for the impacts of trauma focus on specific auricular points on the body. These points are responsible for controlling areas of the brain that help control nervous functioning while decreasing stress levels. Many underserved victims of crime are leery of opening up about their trauma and thus are reluctant to seek psychological counseling. This is where acupuncture can play a key role in helping these individuals. The project also works with participants in developing mindfulness practices and setting healing intentions, offered in two weekly sessions at various locations.
